Supporters of LGBT rights will hold a peaceful demonstration in  The Hague, Netherlands, protesting the murder and torture of Cameroonian activist Eric Lembembe.

The event is being organized by Uganda Gay on Move and the Out & Proud Diamond Group, which sponsored a similar protest on July 23 at the Cameroon mission in London.

The protest is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at the Cameroon embassy in The Hague at Amaliastraat 14.

In their announcement of the protest, the groups stated:

We strongly condemn the brutal murder of Mr Eric by the state sponsored anti-gay activists in Cameroon. The government of Cameroon should be held to account. We are demanding the following.

1. We demand an immediate investigation into the death of our fellow human rights activist.

2. Prosecution of all responsible.

3. An immediate release of all those in prison in Cameroon because of being LGBTI.

4. Allowing all LGBTI persons in Cameroon to exercise their rights like everybody else and access all medical services without discrimination.
